Favorite project: Alaska Democratic Party Candidate Hub
The project I am most proud to have worked on was the Alaska Democratic Party Candidate Hub on their website. This project allowed me to apply some of the new skills I had learned, such as using a spreadsheet to gather and organize candidate information, writing copy, and conducting accurate candidate research. It required me to collect information, organize it, and ensure consistency throughout. While working on projects like this, I learned how important it is to include only information that is unbiased – everything has to remain neutral. Having the opportunity to assist the WSD team and my fellow interns on a large project was extremely rewarding.
Biggest Accomplishment
I went into this internship looking to learn how political messaging works hand in hand with design, and I am ending it with exactly that knowledge. I was able to gain a deeper understanding of another side of the business and see how that work directly impacts the work of the designers. By acting as a bridge between communications and design I learned how to collaborate more effectively across teams and strengthen my design process.
Biggest Challenge
This experience challenged me to become a more efficient designer. There were many moving parts and tight deadlines. As I learned new skills and workflows, I further developed my ability to balance speed with good execution by recognizing that producing strong work means finding the right balance between efficiency and attention to detail. By the end of this internship, I felt much more confident working fast and adapting.
