Figma tools and navigation: command keys, photoshop feature, standardized sizing for digital products, importing/exporting products, SVG color grabbing for graphics, more efficient usage of the pen tool, masking in Figma. Non-Figma: backend website design, web design terminology (loop gallery, category, featured image), what language and imagery is used in political digital/print products, creation of halftone imagery in photoshop.

Favorite project: ADP Baseball Candidate Cards
Using inspiration from vintage sports trading cards, my buddy and I collaborated on an Alaskan Democratic Party project to introduce this election’s candidates. During this process, and with the help of the team, we designed a product that communicated candidate information in a fun, clear, and engaging way. This was the first project I saw proposed, iterated, and produced as a part of the WSD team; for that reason, it stands tall as my favorite internship project of our 2026 run.
Biggest Accomplishment
I am walking away from this internship with insider knowledge about how to collaborate on a design team. I was hoping to gain experience and insight regarding the professional side of graphic design. Although I cannot guarantee that future opportunities will use Figma, I can reasonably assume that their methods of collaboration and communication would be similar. I am leaving a more confident designer.
Biggest Challenge
This internship helped me realize that I need to practice incorporating depth and texture to my designs. Practice is the key term here. Sometimes I would create seven different iterations that weren’t complete without WSD eyes. Meaning , I feel like my designs lacked the spark or it factor necessary for client release. Seeing everyone’s process/approach to the designs on the collaborative calls helped in streamlining my own. However, there is still work to be done! Also, I don’t like that Figma doesn’t allow for easier use of precise use of a grid. I wish Figma was just indesign, but better. It’s not. Period.
