Skills Learned
I am grateful for the ways working with the Which Side Digital team has contributed to my growth as a teamworker, designer, writer, and individual. Working with various clients has given me insight on tailoring copywriting, creating graphics and storyboards, website design, brand guide messaging, and building website wireframes. I also utilized Figma resources (turning icons into vectors, pulling fonts and images from Adobe Stock, and more) and built website pages on WordPress and Elementor (learning terminology such as word orphans, eyebrows, slug links, high & low fidelity wireframes, padding inside containers, and more).
Clients I Worked On
GOTV PAC, Alaska Democratic Party, Tennessee Democratic Party, Tom Begich, Chris Jones, Mary Peltola and Adam Smith
“I learned the true art of website design is not only about conveying a client’s message, but it is also where the voices of graphic design and copywriting merge into one. It was amazing to witness and contribute to these parts as Which Side Digital came together on multiple projects.”
Favorite project: Alaska Democratic Party ‘Meet the Candidates’ Profiles
The Alaska Democratic Party ‘Meet the Candidates’ profiles challenged me to navigate new software. My amazing mentor taught me how to utilize WordPress and Elementor to produce polished profiles for dozens of candidates for State House, State Senate, and Statewide. The scale of this endeavour pushed me to work efficiently and ask important questions to make sure each candidate profile was accurate and perfected. The final product was a wonderful accomplishment.
Biggest Accomplishment
I am leaving this process with experience of collaborating and communicating with a design team in a real-world environment. I made wonderful connections throughout this process and valued how the team leaned on one another to get the work done. I also gained behind-the-scenes knowledge of digital marketing and learned how political clients interact with a design team, their expectations, and how to present to clients professionally.
Biggest Challenge
This process exposed many things about who I am as a creative person. I am proud of the ways I was able to adapt to Figma, learning WordPress and Elementor softwares, and pitching my thoughts in an effective way to the design team. This internship has challenged me to create at a much faster pace than I usually do, allowing me to explore more designs while improving my time management. I am fortunate to have learned more about the designer I am becoming while working with Which Side Digital.
